Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment is useful for enhancing our understanding of the individual. Psychometric tests can provide us with information which we can compare to the average population, to determine strengths and weaknesses of your abilities, and the highlights of your personality.

Career assessments investigate aspects of your abilities, interests, and personality. These findings are combined with qualitative interview information, to provide an in-depth view of your current and potential future career options. This process can be especially helpful when you are unsure about what career direction to take, or you are questioning your career choices

Educational assessments can be especially helpful for children who are struggling scholastically, as it can help to identify any learning impediments, which can then be managed appropriately. Exposing these problems at an early age can be crucial in ensuring future successes.

Personality assessments can provide insight into personal choices, preferences and behaviours. It may help in understanding repeated relationship issues, learning to identify the types of people you work best with, or purely for personal enrichment.

Play Therapy

Children have to face many of the same problems that adults do, but they do so before having learned how best to cope with these situations. Although some challenges may inspire growth within the child, there are times when overwhelming situations can cause long-term damage to their emotional, cognitive and behavioural development.

Play therapy involves a play environment where your child and I can relate at a level which is appropriate to their age, while still addressing those areas that they need professional help in dealing with.

Couples Therapy

Relationship difficulties range in scope, but can be crippling at times. Many couples know the feeling of wanting desperately to stay together, but hate the day-to-day quarrelling, or are constantly tiptoeing around sensitive subjects.

Our joint couples therapy sessions will help you to uncover the reasons behind your relationship difficulties, and show you ways to overcome these obstacles. Your journey together through therapy will also show you the ways you can help each other grow as individuals, enriching each other's lives as you progress.

Private Counseling

In therapy sessions, we’ll work to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behaviour. I will help you “re-frame” your thinking and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles. An ideal course of therapy will look into three time frames:

  • Exploring your past can help to identify patterns of behaviour, understand the roots of emotional difficulties, and set a frame of reference for future progress

  • Working in the present, we will examine different ways of thinking which can profoundly influence your emotions and behaviour. Although your past has an influence on your present, working in the "here and now" can help you make your own changes.

  • Most therapeutic work is guided by an ideal future self - an ideal that the individual is striving towards. We can delve into the details of what you envision yourself becoming in time, in order to guide what direction our sessions will take.
